This weekend the fifth and second to last event of the Esse 850 IC Cup 2016 took place on Lake Zürich in Bäch (SUI). Although the weather was pretty dynamic (rainy, cloudy, sunny, warm & cold), the associated winds never really set in properly which only allowed two races in difficult conditions. The SUI 125, team «Aspra» with Urs Oldani, managed the tricky circumstances well and hence claimed their second overall victory of this season with 3 points, followed by the SUI 155, team «B TOO» with Jan Bachmann (6 points) and the SUI 106, team «Solino» with Nicola Fuso (7 points). Detailed results may be found here. In the end all competitors still enjoyed a nice weekend at the Esse 850 Bächau Cup 2016 and left the lovely spot with smiles on their faces.

The last race of the event was held on Sunday morning, again in cracking 15-20knts of Pelèr. In the end, team «Zebrabox», the SUI 158 with Paul-Ambroise Sevestre, again managed a spectacular turn around to claim victory of the Esse 850 European Open 2016 by winning the last race. In second place, team «Ottocinque Due», the SUI 172 with Alain Marchand, were defeated by only one point, followed by the SUI 153 with Robert Hartmann in total third place (full results). The Gentlemen’s Class is very thankful to the organizing committee of Fraglia Vela Malcesine for this great event and is already looking forward to next year!

The conditions of the first two days at the Esse 850 European Open 2016 on Lake Garda can be described by only one word: Wow! The racing committee of the Fraglia Vela Malcesine was able to carry out eight spotless races with both Pelèr and Ora in up to 28knts of wind speed. This leaves one last race for tomorrow’s last day of the event.
