This Saturday, the official Esse 850 Season 2017 gets started at the Mediterranean Cup in Lerici (ITA). However, for many ambitious Esse 850 teams the starting signal for the new season already dates back several weeks. On Lake Zürich for example, the local fleet enjoyed a sunny weekend of intense training in mid-April (Video and Pictures). We wish all Gentlemen a grand first event in Lerici with only the best of sailing conditions and Italian hospitality!

Dear Esse 850-Sailors, because of a cyber-attack the website was out of order. But we are now back again. Nevertheless – we wish you Merry Christmas und a Happy New Year! We are happy to meet you at the Esse 850 IC Cup 2017 starting in Italy on the 29th of April. Very warm regards, Stephan in the name of the committee.

For those of you who did not already do the math yourselves: The SUI 158, team «Zebrabox» with Paul-Ambroise Sevestre, officially managed to defend last year’s overall victory of the Esse 850 International Class Cup! As last year, the decision was again extremely tight with only 1 point difference between the winning team and the SUI 172, team «Ottocinque Due» with Alain Marchand, in second place. The podium is being completed by the gentlemen of SUI 125, team «Aspra» with Urs Oldani, in third. Congratulations to team «Zebrabox» for another outstanding season!

Past weekend, the worlds biggest annual singlehanded sailing regatta, the «Silverrudder Challenge», took place in Denmark. A total of 400 boats started to the race around the island of Funen, but not all competitors were able to manage the tough conditions. As last year, Franz Schollmayer fortunately won the «Keelboats Small 2»-ranking with his Esse 850 «Firlefranz»! His report (in German).

The Esse 850 Swiss Championship 2016 finished today with two afternoon races after a relaxing lunch in Brissago. As expected the SUI 158, team «Zebrabox» with Paul-Ambroise Sevestre, could not be caught and hence defended their Swiss Champion title with a very impressive series of bullets only! The podium is being completed by the SUI 137, team «Nuvina» with Luca Wullschleger, in second and the SUI 079, team «Trucciolo D’Oro» with Stefano Gautschi, in third place. The final ranking. Congratulations and many thanks to all teams and the organizing committee of the Yacht Club Ascona for this great event!
