Hooray, the Esse 850 Swiss Championship 2016 will surely be valid in the end due to four nice races that could be sailed today in up to 15knts of breeze. Four races with four bullets for the SUI 158, team «Zebrabox» with Paul-Ambroise Sevestre, who will be quite difficult to catch up tomorrow – but you never know. In second place of the preliminary ranking is the SUI 137, local team «Nuvina» with Luca Wullschleger, followed by the SUI 157, the «Esseboats Team» with Esse-Mastermind Josef Schuchter. Now, we wish all members of the Gentlemen’s Class an entertaining evening at the enchanting Yacht Club Ascona!

The gods of wind were not too kind with the Gentlemen’s Class for it’s Swiss Championship in Ascona so far. At least there was just enough wind today to make one countable race possible. The reigning Swiss champion, team «Zebrabox» with Paul-Ambroise Sevestre, jumped at the first chance to get in the lead and won the first race in front of the «Esseboats Team» with Joseph Schuchter in second and team «baureal» with Daniel Huber in third place. Detailed results, hopefully with more races to count, follow tomorrow. We’ll keep you posted!

The 21 teams were warmly welcomed today by the Yacht Club Ascona for the start of the Esse 850 Swiss Championship 2016. The only thing missing for a perfect day was a solid breeze to enable steady sailing, which leaves the Gentlemen’s Class without any races after Day 1 of the last official event of the season. As the weather forecast for tomorrow sounds more promising, we are still optimistic and looking forward to some great action on the water. Stay tuned!

In around about one week it’s show time for the last official event of this year’s season of the Gentlemen’s Class. It will be a dignified final of the season for the coming event is nothing less than the Esse 850 Swiss Championship on Lago Maggiore in charming Ascona (SUI). Approximately 20 teams from Switzerland, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands will not only compete for the Swiss Championship title but also for the final standings in the total ranking of the Esse 850 IC Cup 2016. The president of the Gentlemen's Class herewith officially invites all members to the 10th General Assembly of the Esse 850 International Class. The assembly will be held on the first evening of the Esse 850 Swiss Championship, the 16th of September 2016 in Ascona at the Sala Teatro del Gatto. About The Class

The «Esse 850 International Class» is the official class-unification of the Esse 850 One-Design yachts and was founded in January 2007 at Schloss Rapperswil. Its task is to enable international regattas, stimulate communication among the sailors of the Esse 850 and promote and coordinate all activities in Switzerland and internationally.

In 2010, the Swiss Esse 850 Class was accommodated to «Swiss Sailing» as a Member Class and has been authorized to perform official Swiss Championships. The class association currently counts 50 members who actively participate in regattas.
