After the race started with very light winds the weathergod blessed the fleet with a „nice“ thunderstorm over the Swiss coast which brought some rain, but more importantly a very good south westerly breeze with 4-5 Beaufort.
That wind stayed until the mark Eichhorn. But also the Überlinger See which is usually known for its very light wind surprised the boats with a solid breeze all the way in and out.
After that the south westerly wind was steady enough to bring the front of the fleet over the finish line in front of Lindau. The rest of the fleet had to wait for the incoming wind from the west which arrived with the first daylight.
With 6 boats on the starting line the Esse 850 Class was one of the biggest one design classes of the Regatta. They showed a very strong performance with the first 3 Esses ranked on 3,9,17 in the overall mono hull ranking (calculated).
The Esse Class was won by Clemens Wiedemann (Maitresse) ahead of Martin Buck (Gioia) and Holger Seibert (Alma Roberta). See the overall results here and the class results here.
