On 7./8. of October 2017, the last official Esseboats event of this season took place in Thalwil as a joint regatta of the Esse 850 and Esse 750 International Class. It was a decisive weekend in terms of the outcome concerning the Esse 850 IC Cup total ranking as well as the future of the Esse 850 International Class that was discussed lively at the General Assembly.
Nine participants from four countries - Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy - sailed the Esse 850 International Class Austrian Open regatta in mid-September. The race took place on Moon Lake in Upper Austria. It is part of the renowned IC Cup, which is a series of six international sailing regattas and also generates the season's best performing Esse 850 team.

We sadly have to announce that the Esse 850 Swiss Championship 2017 in Zug was cancelled due to an insufficient number of participants. We will inform you about a possible alternative regatta (Swiss Open) in Thalwil from the 06.-08.10.2017 soon. Due to these circumstances, the General Assembly of the Esse 850 IC has also been moved to Saturday 07.10.2017 (invitation is about to follow). We wish to be excused for any inconvenience and thank you all very much for your understanding.

The «Esse 850 International Class» is the official class-unification of the Esse 850 One-Design yachts and was founded in January 2007 at Schloss Rapperswil. Its task is to enable international regattas, stimulate communication among the sailors of the Esse 850 and promote and coordinate all activities in Switzerland and internationally.
In 2010, the Swiss Esse 850 Class was accommodated to «Swiss Sailing» as a Member Class and has been authorized to perform official Swiss Championships. The class association currently counts 50 members who actively participate in regattas.
