Team "Ottocinque" wins Esse 850 European Open

On July 14 in Malcesine, Northern Italy, 19 sailboats took off for the Esse 850 European Open tournament on Lake Garda.

As the winds blew at a perfect speed of eight to 20 knots, teams from four nations participated in nine competitive sailing regattas.

Team Ottocinque, with Alain Marchand at the helm, was able to secure the lead in four bullets on day one. It was a lead that sailboat SUI 172 would not give up for the remainder of the race. SUI 153 and SUI 156, piloted by Robert Hartmann and Daniel Schroff, finished second and third place. Congratulations!

About The Class

The «Esse 850 International Class» is the official class-unification of the Esse 850 One-Design yachts and was founded in January 2007 at Schloss Rapperswil. Its task is to enable international regattas, stimulate communication among the sailors of the Esse 850 and promote and coordinate all activities in Switzerland and internationally.

In 2010, the Swiss Esse 850 Class was accommodated to «Swiss Sailing» as a Member Class and has been authorized to perform official Swiss Championships. The class association currently counts 50 members who actively participate in regattas.
