Tragic loss of Charles Favre

We are inconsolable about the abrupt passing of Charles Favre, a great sailor and good friend of the Esse 850 International Class. He was overturned in a gust last Thursday on Lake Geneva whilst practicing with his A-Cat and sadly could not be reanimated despite prompt presence of rescue.

The Swiss sport of sailing lost one of his most succesful, passionate and highly estimated icons. The Esse 850 International Class offers it's deepest condolences to the family. The funeral service for Charles Favre will take place tomorrow Wednesday, 20th of May, in Lausanne, St-Rédempteur Church, at 14.30hrs.

About The Class

The «Esse 850 International Class» is the official class-unification of the Esse 850 One-Design yachts and was founded in January 2007 at Schloss Rapperswil. Its task is to enable international regattas, stimulate communication among the sailors of the Esse 850 and promote and coordinate all activities in Switzerland and internationally.

In 2010, the Swiss Esse 850 Class was accommodated to «Swiss Sailing» as a Member Class and has been authorized to perform official Swiss Championships. The class association currently counts 50 members who actively participate in regattas.
