Nine participants from four countries - Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy - sailed the Esse 850 International Class Austrian Open regatta in mid-September. The race took place on Moon Lake in Upper Austria. It is part of the renowned IC Cup, which is a series of six international sailing regattas and also generates the season's best performing Esse 850 team.
The crew of SUI 153, with Robert Hartman at the helm, took the first place after seven races with perfect wind conditions. The SCS Crew, lead by Gerhard Wörndl, came in second, after winning the last race of the Austrian Open. The young crew from Lake Constance, with Clemens Wiedemann as the pilot, secured third place, while Klaus Eder and Markus Gachowetz came in fifth and seventh and rounded up the result.
