News

The sailing season should start soon and it is time to plan it. The 2020 season is one to forget, but we can hope that the 2021 season will be nearly back to normal given that for the Esse, many events will take place in July or later. Please check this year’s calendar on https://esse850.org/en/esse-850-ic-cup/the-agenda .

The committee has put its heads together to attract a large number of boats to our events. The goals are simple. We want at least 20 boats to our Grade 1 events, Malcesine in July, and the Swiss Championship beginning of September in Bächau and at least 10 boats at our Grade 2 events. To secure this we offer a few goodies:

  1. We will put the right effort to make Malcesine and the Swiss Championship especially nice in terms of parties and photography.
  2. We will organize a tombola with 3 nice prices all worth more than 1’000 Fr for the boats who participate at both grade 1 events.
  3. No one should be afraid of the effort it takes to transport the boat. We will offer at a special price a service or some help to water in and water out your boat at both grade 1 events. Please let me know by replying this mail if such a service is useful for you.
  4. We will sponsor with 500 Fr the boats coming to the Swiss Championship from outside the lake of Zurich.
  5. Finally we will pay the entry fees for all young crews. By young crew we mean that the average age of the crew is below 30 and the oldest member of the crew is below 40.

We hope this will convince enough crews to join our events, but we are also open to other suggestions. Our first grade 2 event should take place from May 7 to 9 in la Tour-de-Peilz. Just next to Montreux on the Leman lake. The club there is known to have one of the nicest terrasse and view on the lake. You can already register now here.

Looking forward to see you at our events,

Best Regards,

Your Esse 850 Committee
