About the Class

The «Esse 850 International Class» is the official class-unification of the Esse 850 One-Design yachts and was founded in January 2007 at Schloss Rapperswil. Its task is to enable international regattas, stimulate communication among the sailors of the Esse 850 and promote and coordinate all activities in Switzerland and internationally. Measured at five to six international regattas per year, the best crews determine an annual winner of the Esse 850 International Class Cup. In 2010, the Swiss Esse 850 Class was accommodated to «Swiss Sailing» as a Member Class and has been authorized to perform official Swiss Championships.

The class association currently counts 50 members who actively participate in regattas. Nevertheless, the social aspect also has great importance. The sailors are not only athletic competition, but both the General Assembly as well as the common dinners are important to promote common interests and sporting friendship.
