From September 4th to 8th, the 2019 Esse 850 Swiss Championship was held in Vidy, Lausanne, on Lake Geneva, and this year the « Club de Voile de Vidy » was the organizer of the event.

You may think: "Lausanne-Vidy: there was no wind!" Well no, error, wind there was and even a lot. With 17 registered boats coming from Switzerland and Germany, the competition looked very interesting and it was: not only by the quality, but also by the level of all the crews, composed of amateurs enlightened and athletes of national and even olympic levels, by young talents passed directly from the optimist to the Esse 850 (thanks to a generous provision of an Esse 850) and by the very demanding wind conditions with gusts passing 30 knots.

It was exciting also for the title: "Pura Gioia" skipped by Martin Buck, recently arrived on the circuit, had made a strong impression by winning the Esse 850 Eurocup 2019 in Malecesine, but "Zebrabox", multiple times Swiss Champion Esse 850, skipped by Paul-Ambroise Sevestre, was not there and so the conjectures were going well to say who of the new joyous "Pura Gioia" or the serenisim "Zebrabox" would be the best.

Truce of suspense, after 10 rounds (the maximum possible for this SC 2019) it is "Zebrabox" which wins, with mastery, in front of "Pura Gioia" and "Chantier naval de Vidy" completes the podium at 3 place. Check out all the results here.

The event was beautiful, not only on the water, but also on the shore, thanks to the good organization, without failures, regattas and festivities will have allowed everyone to leave the head full of beautiful memories, the mouth deliciously satisfied and the heart thrilled by so many friendly exchanges.
