With 19 yachts from three nations, the 8th Esse 850 International Class Swiss Championships took place from 9 to 12 May. On the first day a great first run could be sailed at 4 Bfts from the east.

In the evening the 12th General Assembly of the class took place. After 11 years, the President Stephan Züger, currently also of the WFL of YC Rapperswil, handed over the baton to Alec Tavel.

On Friday and Saturday another eight runs followed under changing but mostly good wind conditions. Some of the races were extremely strenuous and demanded everything from the sailors.

The favourites prevailed - after just four races, Alain Marchand and his team were the winners. He won clearly ahead of the teams Oldani/Wildbolz/Baettig from Lake Zug and Team Hartmann/Rieder/Wüthrich/Wüthrich from Lake Biel.

Team Hartmann from Lake Biel finished in 11th place and had to settle for the bronze medal with less good top places – see overall results here and the images here.
